The main difference between diesel motors and petrol motors is in how the fuel is ignited. Gas engines use spark plugs to ignite slightly compressed fuel molecules. Diesel motors use extreme heat and compression to cause the fuel to ignite. For example a petrol engine may have an 8-1 compression ratio and a temp. of 5,000 degrees in the combustion chamer a diesel engine will have a 15-1 ratio and around 15-20,000 degree combustion chamber give or take depending on the engine design. In the end there not that diffrent.
The main difference between a diesel and a steam engine is the diesel engine is an internal combustion and the steam engine is external combustion.
The diesel engine doesn't have any spark plugs, and uses heat generated during compression to ignite the fuel. The diesel however, is an internal combustion engine.
Internal combustion engine is where the fuel is ignited in the cylinder to make the piston move, petrol or diesel. A steam engine has an external pressure vessel to supply the steam to the cylinder to push the piston. the is no combustion in the engine as such.
They are both internal combustion engines
Petrol and diesel engines are internal combustion engines. The internal combustion that turns the engine and powers the wheels is created by the combustion of fuel. No fuel, no combustion, and nothing to drive the wheels.
Yes they are
Steam engine: external combustion (the fuel is burnt in the boiler and the steam led through pipes etc to the power cylinder(s). Diesel (and petrol and gas): internal combustion - the fuel is burnt in the cylinder. Otherwise they are all Heat Engines.
the air temp at the end of the compression stroke for the ignition of diesel fuel within the combustion chamber is approx between 450*c - 675*c Brent
Internal combustion.
Normal cars use petrol or diesel and have an internal combustion engine while an electric car uses an electric motor and uses electricity to power it.
No, they are both internal combustion engines.
Internal combustion, friction and sometimes the sun.
