There were several, all starring White actresses in the (Polka dot) or Fudge Pop-white) roles. One was Pinky- about a half-breed nurse in Boston, among other locations. This dealt indirectly with race prejudice in the Medical establishment, it is interesting as late as l943, Mid-War so to speak, There were few black women in Nursing schools, all of which were, of-necessity, affiliated with Hospitals, and about Half having some sort of religious establishment as diverse as Columbia-Presbyterian ( Electra trained there!) and Saint Mary"s Hospital in Hoboken ( Franciscan religious order). other films dealing with race-mixing were Imitation of Life ( do not confuse with Lust For Life- about the artist Van Gogh) and the war film Kings Go Forth. It was a very touchy and sensitive subject, not big time blockbuster fare- so to speak! The Broadway Play South Pacific had a major sub-plot about a race-mixing incident foiled by normal war casualty- the male character, off-stage was killed in action ( Maybe by an Irate Jap- you Leave my mistress alone! Banzai!) all we need.
The 21st century movie that is not predominantly in black and white is the PIANIST.
