They saw no reason for Jews to make further concessions to Arabs and give up their historic homelands. The Binationalists were a secular movement that believed in one nation for two peoples and wished to set up a confessionalist-type one-state solution, similar to what prevails today in Lebanon. The Binationalists felt that the partition would lead to strife and conflict which would be unnecessary if the two parties could simply learn to live together.
