Peristalsis is what its called. Im NT lying. its true.
It is the principal organ of taste, an aid in chewing and swallowing, and, in humans, an important organ of speech.A thick bundle of muscles, which can push our food between our upper and lower teeth. The tongue has several functions. It aids in speaking properly and helps a person chew and swallow properly. The tongue also has taste buds which allow you to taste the food you eat.
When the tongue tastes food, and manipulates it during chewing, it helps the food shape into a round ball. Therefore the bolus area would be located in the mouth.

a tongue
Tongue- The tongue actually pushes the food around inside the mouth, placing it between the teeth for chewing.
The tongue pushes down food (already moistened by saliva) into the Oesophagus.
The digestive system! they grind up the food and then the tongue pushes it into the throat and then... you know what happens next!right?
# The food is chewed up and moistened with saliva to become a bolus, or a rounded mass of food. # The bolus is pushed to the back of the mouth by the tongue and the cheeks. # The soft palate and pendant uvula seal off the nasal cavity. # The tip of the tongue pushes up against the top of the mouth while the base of the tongue pushes the food down, and the sides of the pharynx contract. # The hyoid bone and the larynx are elevated. # The bolus pushes down on the epiglottis, which blocks the trachea. # A contraction of the pharynx pushes the bolus into the esophagus, past the larynx. # Another wave of contractions pushes the bolus through the esophagus to the stomach. The muscles of the neck and throat then relax and return to their normal breathing position
It helps taste the food, it helps move it around the mouth, and it helps the mouth swallow the food by pushing it back toward the throat.the tongue plays the role of moving around the food in your mouth.!it rolls the food into tiny ballsIt pushes the food down your esophagus. When the teeth chews and grind the food the tongue rolls the food into a bolus and makes it easier for the food to go down the oesophagus(food tube).it helps to chew the food so that it can go down the esophagusIt manipulates food so that it can be masticated.Produce saliva And make the food smoother and easier to digest. The tongue helps to digest food by moving the food around into the shape of an oval (a ball called a "bolus") so that it is easier to swallow. It pushes the food around to different teeth and to allow the bolus to mix with saliva, and then pushes the food into the esophagus. It helps us to taste and select suitable foods (e.g. if it tastes horrible then you will spit it out so that your body does not need to digest the horrible food).
