Restriking voltage is the voltage that appears across the contacts of a circuit breaker after the current-carrying contacts separate during an interruption. It occurs due to the re-ignition of the arc between the contacts, creating a momentary rise in voltage in the circuit. This can potentially damage the circuit breaker and equipment if not properly managed.
Restriking Voltage : it is the transient voltage that exists during the arcing time. ( natural frequency kHz ). Recovery Voltage : it is the rms voltage after final arc extinction. ( normal frequency 50 or 60 Hz). both voltages appear between circuit breaker poles.

Greater value resistor will absorb more voltage than smaller value. The more voltage absorb with same value current flow, the larger body mass resistor will require. Body size depends on type of resistor (material resistor is made of).
