Meteorologists get the image of a hurricane from satellite photos. By putting several hours of satellite pictures into motion, they can gather information on the track and development of the tropical cyclone.
Hurricane Katrina occurred in August of 2005. Forming on the 23rd, hitting the gulf coats on the 29th, and dissipating on the 31st.
Hurricane Wilma, the most intense atlantic basin hurricane on record, affected primarily the Yucatán penninsula, Florida United States, and the east coast of the united states. It also affected these places: Hispanola, Jamaica, Cuba, Atlantic Canada, Nicaragua, Honduras, Belize, Bahamas, and Europe

Due to thermal buoyancy, the winds gradually blown a circular motion, forming a hurricane.
The primary sign a hurricane is forming is the development of a large cluster of thunderstorms over the open ocean. Meteorologists then track things such as wind speeds and air pressure to predict a hurricane.
