try turning the switch off
on the firewall, if its a standard transmission its the larger of the two
I had this same problem with my !995 Galant. It turned out to be the alternator.
use brake fluid
look to the left of the brake pedal drivers side under dash
You might want to ensure that the handbrake is completely released; you might also check the brake fluid level.
Probably need to replace the bulb.
it will be on the steering coluum almost touching the brake pedal. UNDER the dash. wires plug into it. Also Mitsubishi has recalled this part. Call your dealer or Mitsubishi itself (have the VIN handy).
Sometimes it's the Emergency brake, sometimes it doesnt go all the way down. I had to pull, it release it, pull it, release it etc....
I believe the awnser varies on what model you have... I have a 1999 galant GTZ mine has disc ( rotors ) front and back, The rear has the disc drum combo for the parking brake... Hope this helps
To replace the front brake pads on a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant you will only need a few tools. You will need a jack, tire blocks, a large C-clamp, and a 14 mm socket.
I just had to change mine yesterday 4/12/08 you have to open your trunk, look right under where the 3rd brake light is to find wire running to it, twist to pop it out. Hope this helps. B.C.
Break lights come on when you step on the break, they do not come on when the head lights are turned on.
