MY 1999 ALSO DOES THAT.THE MECHANIC LOOKED UP PAST CASES AND SAID THE ACTUAL BLINKER/CONTROL ARM IS GETTING WORN,BUT NO NEED TO REPLACE IT YET THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET ANOTHER COUPLE OF YEARS OUT OF IT BY JUST MOVING THE CONTROL ARM(TURN SIGNAL)AROUND A LITTLE BIT.IT DOES WORK!!! KEEP IN MIND WHEN YOU USE YOUR BLINKER YOU MAY HAVE TO MOVE IT AROUND A LITTLE BIT AGAIN.GOOD LUCK!! JERRY Your turn signal multi function switch needs to be replaced, it's worn. It can be pretty pricey at the dealer.
I just had this problem with my 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. The problem is a short in the "multi-function switch." When I took it to get fixed, they told me that a lot of Pontiac Grand Ams have had this problem, and mine was fixed through warranty. If that is not the problem with your car, check the "signal flasher relay." Hope I helped!

The turn signal relay for the 1995 Pontiac Grand Am is mounted above the fuse block. Look under the dashboard on the driver's side.
