Facing the front of the car with the hood open, on the drivers side follow the radiator hose down till you come to a junction where you see two bolts, that is where the thermostat is.
Not a good idea
In the thermostat housing
Drivers side under the hood look to the right and down from the radiator and you will see a journal, where the hoses meet, in that journal is the thermostat
1994 Lincoln Mark VII doesn't exist.
Drain radiator, long extension with socket and take it apart up on the drivers' side, pain in the neck but if you take your time it will be completed.

Bad thermostat?
There wasn't a 92 Mark Vlll they started in 93 so the 93 thermostat is on the drivers side under the hood of course, follow the top radiator hose to where you see it join together (2 bolts) and that is where the thermostat is housed, pain to get at but take your time.
Yes they will
front right side of the engine, underneath the power steering resivoir in the the housing unit that is connected to the radiator hoses, cant miss it.
The knock sensor on a 1994 Lincoln Mark 8 is located on top of the engine, near the upper radiator hose. It constantly monitors for the distinctive knock made from incorrect ignition timing.
