Did Harry Truman say Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it?

Yes and No. What he said was "Those who do not read and understand history are doomed to repeat it." Truman actually paraphrased a quote by George Santayana (a Spanish poet & philosopher), who said "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." I hope that helped?~S. Why students should read for pleasure?

Try to find things that interest you. Maybe some ideas about a career you might be interested in to explore what it would be like to be in that career. Fiction or non fiction books can both be entertaining and fun. Personally I was interested in police work so I read detective novels and mysteries. Later I became interested in politics so I read some books by politicians to see if I could figure out why they do the things they do. The important thing is to read. If you can read, you can do anything. Those who will not read have no advantage over those who cannot read.
