Thoughts on buying a 1984 300sd diesel well maintained with 317000 miles all maintance records are there also and tranny rebuilt 20000 miles ago still daily driven think it still got some life left?

Yes it still has some miles left its a deisel,they run for a long time. But then again it could die any day thats a lot of miles. The car sounds like it was taken care of it could run for another 200,000 miles its hard to say. I would find out the shop name on the maintance record and go talk to the mechanic that worked on it.
