Because Mr. Bush believes we have a duty to spread democracy. I do not know where he got this impression. Despite our president's reputation, he is not an idiot, as he thinks things through, though his media persona needs some real work. We invaded Iraq because Osama Bin Laden had ties with Al Quaida and the Taliban, who have ties with Iraq, and therefore, Hussein, well, until our idiot of a president took him out by accident (and yes, that was some serious sarcasm, as the capture of Saddam "made up for" the loss of Bin Laden, because Saddam had a country, Osama didn't). Iran is the next step, and had we not invaded Iraq and taken Hussein, Iran could have done God knows what with their nukes before we had a clue that they were even developing them.
