I have a 2004 F150 Heritage and was having an issue with the alarm going off when I tried to start the truck. You should have a black button under the driver side dash down by the Hood release that is the kill switch for the alarm if you hold that down while starting the truck it should keep the alarm from sounding and killing the engine.
When your vehicle is shut off and securely locked , that indicates that your alarm system is armed
Try pulling the master fuse for the ignition to reset the alarm.

A dead cell in the battery can certainly cause problems, have the battery tested along with the rest of the charging system. It could be that the battery is just old and tired. On the other hand, if the charging system isn't working right the battery will not be able to store enough current. Remember that a battery is just a storage device that holds a large amount of electrical energy so that you can start the engine. The battery is a chemical device and like all things in this world, they do wear out. A charging system test will certainly tell you what's going on.
I believe you have to turn the ignition to the run or accesory position if the alarm is sounding , and if the alarm is armed but not " tripped " , unlocking the door with your key disarms the alarm
