No, not really. It is not possible to know all the tech on all the different manufacturers cars and trucks. There are many common things you will find on all cars like bearings, wire, lights, steel, etc. and since most manufacturers buy parts from common suppliers, you will find many of the same parts on different brands of cars. You need a basic knowledge of systems and how they work. If you are working on your own car, buy a book about your car, or go to the library. Around here we can pick up a manual at AutoZone for about $12. The new cars are very complex, no question. The thing to know is that most often, what breaks is the simple stuff. Corrosion in connectors is the single biggest cause that I have found for an engine not running right (North East Ohio uses a LOT of salt on the roads). I just carefully unplug and reconnect each plug under the hood before I try to diagnose a problem, and use dielectric grease so you do not have a repeat. This does not mean that you can now pull an engine for a rebuild, or change a computer (which almost never go bad, it is usually a sensor), with a little help and experience, you could take care of many of the problems you would run into. Go watch some one work (get permission) and see if you would like it. You will always have work, as cars always need work!
Apparently, very little - they don't even need to know how to spell mechanic.
For every inch of paracord you will need 1 foot
Every little inch of America!

All you need to know is that you will have to work hard to get the most out of your education. Visit http://www.directoryofschools.com/motorcycle-mechanic-school.htm for more info.
You need to have atleast 2 years of Secondary school. Who ever put "Don't worry about it buddy!" is a failure, Probably doesn't know how much education you need to be an auto mechanic.
No you do not, all your doing is taking off one part, and replacing it with another, their is no math involved. People who tell you that u need to know math to become a mechanic, only say that because they have been told that by an adult.
You need a repair licence to open a repair shop. You don't need a licence to be a mechanic but, it would be to your benefit to be a certified mechanic.
You would need a mechanic - if you dont know how you may end up in trouble.
You will most probably need a mechanic. It wont be a hard job and wont cost too much. Alternatively, you could ask a friend who may know more about cars than you do.
you need to have a gallon for every inch they are
