Alsace and Lorriane
Alsace and Lorraine.
In 1713, France was forced to give up Newfoundland, Acadia, and the Hudson Bay Basin as part of the Treaty of Utrecht. The Treaty of Utrecht was a series of peace treaties.
The conclusion of the World War One was that Germany had to give the Allies money to pay for all the damages to their countries.
Germany had to give up substantial territory to Poland, Lithuania, and France. Germany had to give up ownership of mines and factories in French territory and in the critical Ruhr area of Germany. Germany had to pay cash reparations to France and England, which crippled the country. The economic destruction prevented real recovery from the war, led to bank, insurance, and stock failures, and was one of several causes of the Great Depression of 1929 - 1939.
Germany had to give up Territory to Poland and France. They had to pay over 1,000,000 dollars to every country they severely hurt. This may not be the whole answer but it helps... I hope.

France regained Alsace and Lorraine from Germany after world war one. They had lost these territories to Germany during the Franco Persian War.
France had to give Germany its rich mining area, Alsace and Lorraine.
Germany annexed the previously-independent countries of Baden, Bavaria, Württemberg, and Hesse-Darmstadt. Germany also annexed the French territories of Alsace and Lorraine which Germany renamed as Elsaß-Lothringen.
Napoleon III of France was forced to give up the territory of ALSACE-LORRAINE (in German - Elsass-Lohringen) to the new German Empire.
After World War I, Germany was forced to take the blame for the war and was then forced to pay reparations to the Allies.
The treaty made Germany pay for all the damages, take all of the blame, give-up all of their colonies, they had to give France the Saar coal region for 15 years and these are just a couple points in the treaty of versailles. The saar coal region was Germany's leading source of income and by losing this Germany had to make the price of daily necessities very high. Germany was also frustrated that they had to take ALL the blame for the war.
The Treaty of Versailles forced Germany to accept full responsibility for World War One, even though it only entered the war due to its alliance with Austria-Hungary. The decision was made to have the treaty be signed at Versailles so that it would symbolically undo the Treaty of Versailles that had been signed at the end of the Franco-Prussian War of 1871. At the end of that war, France had lost and had been forced to pay reparations and give up territory to Germany, and the French desire for revenge for both the Franco-Prussian War AND World War One motivated negotiations at the 1917 peace conference.
