In Word 2007, when you open the "find" dialog (CTRL-F) you have the option of selecting "More >>" (a button in the lower left of the find dialog). When you click the "More >>" button, the dialog will expand and a new button, "Format" will appear at the bottom left. If you click on Format, then select the "Font" option, you will be able to select "Italics" from the new dialog that opens. Once you've selected Italics, you will see "Font: Italics" below the search box at the top of the find dialog. At that point you can either click the "Find Next" button at the bottom of the find dialog (to find the next occurrence of an italicized word) or click the "Find In" drop-down and select "Main Document" or "Current Selection" to find ALL of the instances of italicized words in either the entire document or the currently selected block of text, respectively.
