According to The Bible, Tithes are to be given only to the Levite Priests; there are no more Levites today.
Numbers
18:24 But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.
18:25 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
18:26 Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe.
A tithe or 10% of ones annual wealth earned, was given over to the Levitical Priesthood in the O.T. and is given now to the Christian Church one belongs to. This money is 'God's' and is to be used to support the message of the Church to the area/world and assist its members or others as needed.
A tithe was a payment made to clergy or religious institutions. It usually consisted of a tenth of one's income and was often obligatory for members of certain religious denominations.
This is known as a TITHE.
Tithe
Tithe (or tithing)
As tithe is not a person, you can only give it to god or the church.
The correct term is tithe. This describes when a person promises 10 % of their income to the church. This shows that they are holy and promises them a spot in heaven( as some still believe and other let go) An example is used in The Canterbury Tales.
The average amount of church tithe given in America varies widely depending on individual income levels and religious beliefs. However, studies have shown that the average amount of tithe given ranges from 2-10% of a person's income.
can i file for my tithes if i am on ssi
The tithe was one tenth of a person's production, so a farmer, for example, would give the Church one tenth of his crop.
Contractual Law. The non-payment is a breach of contract
The word denotes a tenth part, given for the service of God. The first recorded instance is the payment made by Abraham to Melchizedek (Gen. 14:20; cf. Heb. 7:4-10). See also Jacob's vow (Gen. 28:22). The law enforced the payment, and provided rules with regard to the use to which the tithe should be put. In Num. 18:21-28 it is directed that tithe be paid to the Levites, who in their turn give one-tenth of what they receive to the priests. A clear exposition of the tithe is given in Mal. 3:8-18, in which it is shown that blessings from the payment of tithing are both temporal and spiritual, and failure to pay an honest tithe is a form of robbery. God only asks for one tenth of our increase to do with as He sees fit. Having paid tithes every week for some 45 years I can testify that I have never ever wanted for anything.
A payment of goodwill, sometimes called a payment of earnest, is to let a seller know that a buyer is serious about buying something. A person seeking home ownership might give this type of payment to a realtor to prove they are a serious buyer.
