Towing specifications and bed weight limit for 1993 Dodge D350 Pickup 1 Ton Club Cab Diesel?
There is no simple answer as to what size of trailer an undescribed pickup will tow. What size of trailer, trailer weight, what size of engine, gas or diesel, what is the rear end ratio, what terrain will the trailer be towed in, delta or mountains? All of these items determine the capabilities of your truck. Fifteen years ago I wrote a small article on the Mathmatics of Trailer Towing that I will be happy…
What is the towing capacity for a 2001 Chevy S10 with a 4.3 liter 6 cylinder engine and a 5 speed manual transmission?
This depends on many factors. Which engine do you have, which transmission? how is your suspension? For example. My 87 pickup is a V6 with an automatic transmission. Tow weight is around 2600 lbs (about 1179 Kg) On the other hand, my father owns the standard transmission model of the 89 pickup with a V6 which can haul approximately 3500 lbs (about 1587 Kg)
International make a wide range of truck models in varying weight and towing capacities. It really comes down to how the specifications are set. Even with the same engine and the same output, a truck intended to run at 80,000 lbs. won't have the same specifications as a heavy haul truck intended to run at 200,000+ lbs.
Depending on the weight your towing the transmission may not be strong enough to bear the weight difference. Check your owners manual for towing weight limits. If your towing within the weight limit and your transmission is slipping, flush your transmission fluid and replace with new transmission fluid and change transmission filter.
Do not go by the GVWR on your door jam. This only tells you the Vehicles Gross. If you can't find the rating. The best way is to take the GCWR (gross combined weight rating) and subtract the vehicles weight from that number and that will provide you with your trailer towing capacity. Side note: Your tow rating from the manufacturer is related to the vehicles braking capacity. It doesn't matter if you can tow…
233 g/mole estimated average molecular weight. Diesel fuel, like other petroleum products, is not one specific chemical compound but a complex mixture of organic compounds separated into ranges by their boiling point. For this reason, diesel doesn't have a specific molecular weight. However, you can talk about an "average molecular weight" of the mixture. EPA lists an estimated average molecular weight for diesel of 233 g/mole. http://www.epa.gov/athens/learn2model/part-two/onsite/es.htm The actual average molecular weight of diesel will…
Took me a long time to figure this one out too. "Standard" towing capacity is the maximum weight that can be towed with the factory supplied hitch. "Maximum" towing capacity is the absolute maximum weight that the vehicle can tow with an after market hitch made for heavy hauling, such as a 5th wheel.
More than could possibly be given here. First you need to decide what you will be doing with it: light duty (quarter ton), standard duty (half ton), heavy duty (one ton), etc. If you will be towing a trailer with it and the weight of that trailer. Many other factors will affect your selection. Most vehicle manufacturers offer various models of pickup trucks.
