Paste Options (small "smart icon" that looks like a clipboard) or Paste Options button would allow you to change the format of pasted items.

Microsoft Word's default paste command attempts to match the pasted content's font characteristics with that of the destination location so that the text is all formatted the same. After pasting, an icon appears that allows the user to choose between the destination's format and the origin's format.
After you paste your text into the new cell, before you click away from it there should be a small picture of a clipboard that pops up next to the pasted text. When you click on that it will give you the different formatting options.

Paste will just paste whatever you've copied. Paste Special in Wordpad has a few options to paste in different formats which are as a Wordpad document, Rich Text Format, a picture and unformatted text. It is much more limited in options compared to Paste Special in other applications.

It is a memory location called the clipboard. Text is pasted to the clipboard to allow you to paste it to another location.
If it's being pasted from a website, a small icon with a drop down arrow should show up at the bottom of the selection once it is pasted in Microsoft Word. There are a few options: Keep Source Formatting, Match Destination Formatting, and Keep Text only. If your document already has a style layout, then select the Match Destination Formatting box. If you just want the text from the page, choose Text only.
It allows you to select sentences or images in a document. They can then be cut out of the document and pasted to a different location in the same document or a different document.
