My first response would be cost - "if the end doesn't justify the means", so to speak. Basically, if the costs of entering or operating in a foreign market outweigh the potential for profit, then it wouldn't make sense to take on a global strategy. There is also the potential for an unwelcome reception or a product/service not being accepted in certain markets around the world. That is why it is critical that a feasibility study or market research be performed before taking the plunge.
