The flywheel from an engine standpoint is used to balance the Crankshaft and keep it moving through centrifugal force.
From a transmission standpoint, it used as a mounting point for the clutch (manual transmissions) or the torque converter (automatic transmissions) and aids in the transfer of power from the engine to the transmission and down the rest of the drivetrain.
flywheel replacement generally requires removal of the Transmission and Torque Converter .
generally the alternator sits under the flywheel
You have to use the flywheel for the 1974 engine and the clutch plate for the Trans Am.
generally when a pull rope jerks back when pulling it is a sign that you have a sheared flywheel key. remove the screen off the top of the flywheel and look to see if the keyway on the flywheel is offset to the keyway on the shaft
A small flywheel needs to stay with the starter that goes to it. You can use either flywheel, and the block should be drilled for either starter.
To remove the flywheel on a 1998 Fat Boy Harley, you will need a flywheel puller and some basic tools. Here's what to do: Make sure the bike is in Neutral. Disconnect the wires from the primary cover. Remove the primary cover. Remove the bolts holding the flywheel down. Use the flywheel puller to remove the flywheel from the crankshaft.Once the flywheel has been removed, you can now replace it with a new one. Make sure to use the same bolts to secure the flywheel to the crankshaft, and reconnect the wires to the primary cover.
No. Flywheel required.
No. Chevy uses a number of different noses for their starters. The size of the flywheel and year and model of engine determine what nose is needed. The 153 tooth flywheel is smaller in diamaiater than the 168 tooth flywheel. If you want to use a starter from a 168 tooth flywheel on a 153 tooth flywheel the nose from the smaller flywheel starter will have to be exchanged onto the larger flywheel prior to using it.
i have replaced my clutch to 10.5 diemter ,can i re use the morso flywheel/clutch bolts
25 ft lbs on pressure plate and 50 Ft lbs on the flywheel bolts. use locktite
Yes you can use a 2005 crankshaft in a 2001. The stator is the same but you do need the flywheel, washer and nut for the 2005 because the 2001-2002 use a smaller shaft on the flywheel side of the crank. Mike www.mxpartsonline.com mike@mxpartsonline.com
