Which light rays can cause skin damage similar to sunburn?

There are three types of rays- UVA, UVB and UVC. UVB and UVA act differently upon our skin and do not equally damage it. The UVB rays are mostly responsible for most cases of sunburn, as they are shorter than UVA rays. The UVA rays are longer so reach the inner state of the skin and causes skin damage.

What dose uvb stand for?

UVA rays are constantly present, no matter the season or the weather. If you think you can't get sun damage on a cloudy day, tell that to the UVA rays. They are so powerful that they also penetrate some clothing and even glass. (When was the last time you applied sunscreen before getting behind the wheel?)UVA rays used to be considered relatively safe, in terms of the sun's rays, and that's why tanning beds, which use UVA rays, took center stage. But we now know that using tanning beds before the age of 30 can actually increase your risk of skin cancer by 75%!Also UVA rays are the rays responsible for the signs of aging because they are able to penetrate much deeper into the surface of the skin, damaging the cells beneath. While people think their skin looks younger because it's tan, the reality each, each tan is giving your skin irreversible damage, and you will see it's damage later in life. When you think of UVA rays, think sun spots, leathery skin and wrinkles.UVB RaysUVB Rays are the rays you can blame when you get a sunburn. Unlike UVA rays, these rays aren't always the same strength year round - They're more prevalent in the summer months, however they are able to reflect off of water or snow, so it's always important to protect yourself year-round.

What is responsible for you skin getting sunburned?

The two types of ultra violent rays from the sun, UVA and UVB (ultra violent rays A and B)

Who discoverd vitiligo?

Three myths about the treatment of vitiligo prevail in the medical profession. The first myth is that treatment of vitiligo is "impossible." This is clearly not true and the majority of patients can achieve good results. The second myth is that oral psoralens, which form the basis for some vitiligo treatments are "toxic to the liver." Oral psoralens are not toxic to the liver. The third myth is that psoralen + UVA (PUVA) treatments for vitiligo "cause cancer of the skin." When used to treat vitiligo, PUVA therapy requires only a limited number of treatments-approximately 150 in number that has not been shown to cause skin cancer. By comparison, PUVA treatments for psoriasis can be as many as double the number for vitiligo. It has been shown that a small percentage of patients who receive more than 250 PUVA treatments can develop treatable squamous cell cancers of the skin.

How does melanoma occur?

UVA rays penetrate the skin more deeply and can cause melanoma in susceptible people. UVB rays, which don't penetrate as deeply, cause sunburn and wrinkling.

Is uv radiation harmful?

UV radiation is very harmful in many ways, first off they are invisible rays that come from the sun, UV radiation is made of ultraviolet A (UVA), ultraviolet B (UVB), and ultraviolet C (UVC). These rays burn skin and cause cancer. UVB and UVC penetrate the ozone layer. UVA and UVB cause skin cancer, for this reason, sunscreens are recommended that block UVA and UVB.
