I bet its a "B" series. If so, its caused by a faulty printed circuit. Very common fault.

There are several fuses that control the information display on a 1999 Vauxhall Astra. All of the fuses, however, are located in the fuse box inside the vehicle on the driver's side.
Red
There are fuses below the steering column to the right side as you sit in the drivers seat, pull the flap open. The fuse box is under the bonnet, again on the right side, mid way. I believe the fan heater fuse is located there.

Open the passenger door and pull the cup holder cover and its behind that.

Vauxhall Corsa fuse numbers can be seen on the fuse box. The underside of the fuse box will have a diagram explaining each slot and what fuse goes where.
If it is working what needs to be fixed? Assume, the lack of display. Not sure but I think the radio has two separate fuses, one for the radio one for it's display, check the fuses I have had similar problem but not sure if it was with my Topaz
I believe fuses are in the trunk!
