Hi,
I just fitted a clutch on my Volvo v40i and as I removed the battery for a long while I am trying to figure out how to reprogram the ecu.
Can anyone tell me where is that software available?
I also have a philosophical doubt about the Clutch! I wonder if a slightly damaged release bearing sleeve, considering that the bearing doesn't slide as it should, would eventually damage the bearingg again?
I need urgent help as I am stuck in a very difficult situation.
You will either have to go to the dealer or a repair facility that has a subscription to Volvos VIDA program. The software is not free and has to be installed or updated via the Volvo VIDA system

You take it to a Volvo Dealer and they plug in a laptop and reprogram some parameters on the ECU in the truck.
Most 200 series Volvo share a similar design. Both the Ignition and Fuel Injection Electronic Control Units (ECU) is located behind the outside passenger-side kick panel. To get to it, remove the plastic panel and the overhead insulator, the Ignition ECU is mounted on the firewall, and to its right, the Fuel Injection ECU.
It means you need to hook up to a computer with the Volvo software and pull codes.
Depends on the engine and ECU you have in it
Engine control unit or electronic control unit.
yes they are identical cars but you must do a complete swap (engine ECU as well) Kyle
The electronic immobilizer can be reprogrammed. If you need more information on reprogramming the immobilizer please email mrfixitfast777@yahoo.com You can send in the Ecu and cluster to be reprogrammed.
