The "W" is the designers monogram and is on all Walking Liberty half dollars. Circulated coins in collectible condition from 1940 to 1945 regardless of mintmarks have the same values of $8.00-$9.00. Only coins with very light wear to uncirculated have higher values.

What is the value of an 1816 Walking Liberty silver dollar?

???The Walking Liberty design was used on half-dollars from 1916 to 1945, and on modern bullion pieces. There were no dollar coins of any design struck in 1816.Assuming you have a 1916 half-dollar (you did look at the denomination on the back, didn't you?) its value depends on its condition and mint mark. With no mint mark, retail values as of 09/2008 are roughly $50 in very worn condition, $90 with moderate wear, and $200 with almost no wear. With a D under the words "In God We Trust", $45 / 80 / 225With an S, $107 / 260 / 600

Where is mint mark on half dollars?

On Kennedy half dollars struck in 1964, the mintmark (if any) is on the reverse by the Eagle's left talon. On Kennedy half dollars struck after 1964, the mintmark (if any) is on the obverse right above the space between the second and third digit in the date. On Franklin half dollars, the mintmark (if any) is on the reverse above the bell but below the "E" in "States". For the Walking Liberty half dollar dated 1916 (and some 1917 pieces) the mintmark (if any) is found on the the obverse under the "R" in "TRUST". For later dates of Walking Liberty halves, the mintmark (if any) is found on the reverse on the extreme left hand side under the branch of the perch that the eagle is standing on.

Where do you find the mint on a walking liberty coin?

If your (walking liberty half dollar) coin is dated 1916 (and some 1917 coins) the mintmark is found underneath "In God we Trust" on the front of the coin. All other years the mintmark is found on the reverse of the coin to the left of the branch that the eagle is sitting on. Keep in mind that if your coin has no mintmark, it was minted in Philadelphia. If you have a silver eagle dollar which also uses the walking liberty design, the mintmark will be on the back under the olive branch that the eagle is holding. Bullion silver eagles do not contain mintmarks and could be minted from a number of different mints depending on the year the coin was issued.

On the front is a man with liberty going around it and in god you trust and on the back with a eagle with leaves in his hand with US of America going over it and under it is half dollar?

To clear things up, what you probably have is called a Walking Liberty half dollar, BUT: > The person shown is Miss Liberty, not a man > The motto is In God WE Trust, not "you" > Eagles have claws, not hands. To value your coin, please check its date, then enter the question "What is the value of a <date> US half dollar?" in the question box that appears on all pages of this site, e.g. "What is the value of a 1938 US half dollar"
