he was living in a sunni community. and so if he was shia hided his beliefs. so its not easy to judge about him. but shia Muslims believe according to his writings he has been shia. because he was a philosopher and non-shia Muslims did not have attention to philosophy.

some believes that Al-Farabi as a Muslim philosopher was shiite. maybe according to the philosophy of Al-Farabi, the leader of autopia has to be Imam and because of this point ws can count him as shiite philosopher.
