Barack Obama's father, Barack Obama, Sr., was not a preacher. In fact, he was born into a Muslim family, but he left that faith and became an atheist. Obama's father was an economist, and the confusion may come from the idea that when his father returned to Kenya, he was hired by an oil company, where he served as an economist in the Ministry of Transport; however, the word "ministry" is simply a British term for a department in the government, and did not pertain to anything religious.
