Was Benedict Arnold a patriot or loyalist?

Benedict Arnold was neither a loyalist nor patriot. It's been said he is a opprotunist, which basically means he switched sides. Although he was a govenor on the American side in the first place. But than he told the British Government that he would spy on America for them, than he did the same thing back to America. Benedict switched sides when he thought the other team was winning, which makes him an opprotunist.
