I believe The Bible says that he was filled with the Holy Ghost while still in his mothers womb. Elizabeth said to Mary that she felt the babe leap within her at the sound of the voice of Mary, who was pregnant with Jesus. He recognised Jesus presence even though they had not yet been born.

∙ 7y agoThe Bible doesn't specify for John specifically. However we do know that the unborn baby John responded in the presence of Jesus' mother, Mjary.
"Without delay, Miryam set out and hurried to the town in the hill country of Y'hudah where Z'kharyah lived, entered his house and greeted Elisheva. When Elisheva heard Miryam's greeting, the baby in her womb stirred because Elisheva, his mother, was filled with the Ruach Ha Kodesh."
