The Galveston Hurricane of 1900 was the deadliest Hurricane in U.S. history. The exact death toll is unknown but, but at least 6,000 were killed, possibly as many as 12,000.

The deadliest hurricane ever recorded was the Bhola Cyclone (hurricanes are called cyclones in the Indian ocean). It struck Bangladesh in 1970, killing as many as 500,000 people.
