Mary was a spearhead of hope for the Catholic population of England. They saw her as a prospective Catholic leader. However Mary Queen of Scotland and the Isles can only be proven to be have been involved with one plot. However, seeing that she had been under house arrest for 19 years, It is more than possible she just wanted to escape. It would be a difficult position.
I think you are confusing Mary I, Queen of Scots with Mary I, Queen of England (Bloody Mary). Mary Queen of Scots, although brought up a Catholic, attempted to reach an understanding with the Scottish Protestants. She had none killed. Bloody Mary, on the other hand, had some 300 burnt at the stake in England.
Elizabeth didn't want Mary Queen of Scots to be executed. She refused to sign the death warrant. The secretary slipped in the death warrant with a pile of papers she had to sign. She signed it without knowing. She tried to stop the execution but it was too late
because Queen Elizabeth, thouht that she is a rival for her and for England.
and so she put her to death, and she wasn't Queen anymore, her son was king of scotts and because he also did anything to set her free, queen Mary killed her
No she was a catholic
No. She was an ardent Catholic .
Queen Elizabeth the first ordered the execution of Mary Queen of Scots. Mary was a Catholic and Elizabeth was protestant. Mary was a threat to Elizabeth for that reason and also because she was too close to the throne. (this answer can be massively expanded on)
Definitely not. Mary Queen of Scots was a devout Catholic all her life. This was one of the problems the Scots had with her as a queen as by the time Mary returned from France following the death of her first husband, Francis II, Scotland had become a Protestant county. When Mary fled to England to seek help from her cousin Elizabeth I, her religion lead her to be the focus for any Catholic plot against Elizabeth - which was consequently why she was eventually executed in 1587. Hope this helps.
