Mary Tudor was a strong Catholic because of her parents. At the time of her birth England was a Catholic Country. During her formative years the protestant reformation started when Martin Luther nailed is 96 Thesis to the door in Germany. Henry VIII wrote a book condemning Luther's actions leading the Pope to give him the title of Defender of the Faith.

Catherine of Aragon also had a lot to do with it as well. Being the daughter of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand the Catholic Faith was a big part of her and her siblings lives.

Mary Tudor was devoutly Catholic. She became famous as "Bloody Mary" because of her practice of burning "heretics", mainly Protestants, at the stake.
