Microsoft was founded as a computer programming company on April 4th, 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen. It was MS-DOS that solidified the company's dominance.

The company NACCB, or the National Association of Computer Consultant Businesses, was started by eleven computer brokers that thought the computer consultant industry was treating computer consultants unfairly. The company was started in 1988.
Computer Vision was in many ways the company that first made computer aided design and manufacturing possible. They started on a more general processor but soon designed one that worked better for the design and graphic field in which they were working.

They worked together on a BASIC programming language called AppleSoft BASIC - the name being a combination of Apple and Microsoftfor the Apple computer. Microsoft also produced a Z80 processor card as an add-on for the Apple II computer. Apple developed the Mac OS for their Macintosh computer, which first appeared in 1984, and licensed part of the Mac OS to Microsoft to use in their Windows operating system which appeared in 1985.
