All who follow the teaching of Christ and believe upon His name are called saints or disciples. Moses believed that Jesus was the Christ and was therefore one of his saints. The term saint today refers to a person being elevated to that position by man. This is mans doing and is not in accordance with the will of God.

The Church does not elevate people to sainthood. Only God can do that. The Church merely carries out a process called canonization to investigate and confirm that the person is actually in Heaven. However, the term 'saint' is usually reserved for those entering Heaven after the establishment of the New Covenant. Moses was from the Old Testament.

Why is Joshua important in Roman Catholic religion?

He led the Israelites after Moses. Joshua had been Moses' right-hand man since his youth (Numbers 11:28), and his chief disciple, who was constantly found in the tent of Torah where Moses taught (Exodus 33:11), so as not to ever miss a single word of Moses' teaching. He could be trusted to reach correct decisions (Numbers ch.13-14); and was successful in battle too (Exodus ch.17). As Moses approached the time when he would have to hand over the helm of leadership, Joshua turned out to be the best choice to carry on, and God named him as Moses' successor (Numbers ch.27).
