Because of all the lazy poles.
Yes but they never developed the beach front property. This is why they were known as a Poor land which was shortened to Po' land, and later just Poland.
Actually it is. Poland is since 2008 a great country to live in. Poland is only a country that survived the communism well. They aren't poor. Only if you look compare it with Western-Block countries. Poland is q country that is a little bit broken. Houses are sometimes broken or gray and dirty. But that's only 30% of the country. So Poland is still developing, but ever county does it. So actually Poland has a small arrear but that's all. Poland is a modern and wealthy country. But everyone has a stereotype in his head. But Poland isn't so as everone thinks it is. This Poland can prove with Euro2012...

Poland is the developed country, a member of the European Union. It's not "rich" as Switzerland or Norway and it faced many problems after the collapse of communism in 1989, but now it has quite stable economy. GDP (PPP) per capita is $18,705 and GDP (nominal) per capita is $11,521 which gives Poland 45th place in the world.

It is not accurate to categorize all Polish people as either rich or poor. Like any other country, Poland has a diverse range of socio-economic backgrounds. While some individuals in Poland may be wealthy, there are also many who have more modest incomes.

Polish people have a lot of reasons for leaving Poland and moving to the UK. Poland was quite a poor country and it was overcrowded, due to Poland's big population, it was hard to find jobs. After 2004, when Poland joined the EU, polish people came to the UK in search of higher paying jobs also in Poland they didn't have free health care nor did they live a good quality life.

Everyone in history has trampled across poor Poland. In WW2 they wore very, very big boots.
