No. He was in the Army and made army training films.

Just before the war though, when he left high school he attempted to join the local communist group but he was rejected on the grounds that he wasn't intelligent enough (the communist groups at the time were a sophisticated group based more heavily on Marxism than Stalin's communism). After this rejection he turned to acting - at one point he was thought of so highly as an actor that he co-starred with a chimpanzee. It's strange to think that he later branded communism pure evil, if only he had been accepted into the communist group - maybe the world would be a better place.

Funnily enough, when he left high school he attempted to join the local communist group but he was rejected on the grounds that he wasn't intelligent enough (the communist groups at the time were a sophisticated group based more heavily on Marxism than Stalin's communism). After this rejection he turned to acting - at one point he was thought of so highly as an actor that he co-starred with a chimpanzee. Ronald Reagan was not a captain during World War 2, but he played one in the movies. Did you ever see "Hell Cats of the Navy?"

Ronald Reagan separated from the Army Air Forces (the Air Force prior to 1948 was part of the US Army) as a Captain in 1945.
