Schools and the internet don't even tell people about the actual real history about Somalia when in fact there is more to an Italian colony in Somalia...the north of Somalia was taken over by Britain, the south of Somalia was taken over by Italy.. In all sites it will tell you that the whole of Somalia was took over by Italy and the civil war in Somalia happened in 1991 or 1992. The true fact is that the civil war happened up in the north and around the central of Somalia in 1988. The conflict happened because when all Somalia got their independence they agreed to be one big country so the government and everything was moved to the south of Somalia. Some kind of disagreement occurred in the Somali government and some people just left. This caused the north and the south of Somalia to be rebels and fight with each other. Somalia had this thing about grudging people according to their tribe and because of the problems in Somalia then the southerners had a big grudge against the northerners and the northerner weren't friendly with the southerners. This caused a big upraise between the two tribes. One day unexpectedly the southerners got their whole army and sent airplanes to destroy the central city called Hargeisa which killed more than half the population in the process. Many families were lost and couldn't find each other because they had to flee without even getting the chance to collect any of their valuable items. When the people of Hargeisa fled the soldiers marched right into the city went through people's houses and got anything they wanted., after they were satisfied with their job they marched out of the city again killing people ranged from all ages (even kids who were 2 years old and saying that they will turn their backs on Somalia when they grow up as an excuse). The southerners were happy to hear that they succeeded in their first mission in demolishing people from the northern tribe. Some of the northerners who escaped went down south to live down there for a while and the southerners started saying that a 'a few missiles hit their side of Somalia and they come overfilling our side', this really annoyed the northerners and they said 'your missiles drove us hear watch where ours take you'. This was actually meant to be a threat intentionally meaning that the northerners' tribes would want revenge. This made the government down south frustrated, that very same night the soldiers snuck into the houses that were owned by the northerners tribes and tied them up took them to a place near the sea (they kidnapped 70 men, tortures them interrogated them then killed them all, out of all the 70 people only 1 man escaped). The northerners feared for their live, so most of them went out of the country and the others who could hide hid and stayed in hiding till the civil war was ended in the 1992. But the only information we can get out of the internet and some of the books is the civil war that happened in mugdisho, because they are only aware of that civil war.

This real civil war in Somalia actually lasted for 4 years from 1988-1992. And as you can see it wasn't so long ago.
