In fact he never was. Bundy was tried and convicted for 3 murders in Florida for which he was executed in the electric chair in January 1979. As his DOE (date of execution) got closer he offered to reveal where bodies were in an effort to stall death. The state of Florida was not buying it and he was put to death on schedule.

He was also never charged with many of the other murders he committed in at least 3 different states.

Of the seven known states that Bundy killed in only the murders he committed in Florida were tried before a jury. Did Ted Bundy's mother believe he was guilty?

Louise Bundy believed her son to be innocent of all or most of the crimes he was convicted of. Right up to the night before his execution. Their last conversation was just hours before he sat in Florida's electric chair, when her son finally confessed his guilt in the murders of dozens* of young women in at least 5 states. I consider Bundy's family, especially his mother, another victim. *Although he confessed to about 35 murders, Bundy hinted that the total was far higher. But forever the control freak, Teddy didn't spill all the 'beans' before his execution.

This is hard to answer and be accurate. Bundy would never be honest about how many women he really killed. But by most accounts his murders started in Washington state. Then to Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Florida. This is probably not the whole picture but it does give a general idea of where he was at certain times.

Ted Bundy was an American serial killer who was convicted on the basis of which type of forensic evidence?

At Ted Bundy's trial the prosecution relied heavily on bite marks left on one victim. Although this type of evidence has been criticized by many, in the case of Bundy, who had distinctive teeth and bite, it was enough along with much circumstantial evidence to get him the electric chair. Circumstantial evidence is misunderstood. It can be very powerful and damning, especially when there is physical evidence to go with it. As in Bundy's case, the chance that someone other than Bundy committed these particular murders would have been astronomical. Put that with eyewitnesses and the fact that anywhere Bundy happened to be young women turned up dead, and the case against him was set. In the days and even hours before his death, Bundy used his knowledge of body locations to try to buy himself some more time. The state of Florida was having none of it. His execution went on as scheduled.
