Yes. the Anaconda plan,as it is called, had these three parts:
1. Blockade southern ports
2. Cut the confederacy in half (take control of the Mississippi river)
3. Invade Virginia and capture the confederate capital (Richmond)
The Union believed that by blockading important Southern ports it would hamper the war efforts of the Confederacy. It did cause the South serious problems, however, based on various modern day views of Civil War by historians, the South had the chance to reach its goal of independence despite the blockades, which could not be as tight as to stop the flow of trade.
The Union had a much larger warship fleet than the South did. In addition to that, the Union had safe shipyards far from the South that built many types of ships during the US Civil War. With this naval advantage, the Union was to a large degree successful in blockading Southern ports.
The South had a number of advantages as it entered the US Civil War. The most impotant one was that to be successful, the South did not have to conquer the North. They planned on a mostlt defensive strategy to wear the will of Northerns down to the point that they did not think the cost in lives by the Union was worth the fight to conquer the South. Also, as the battles were 90% of the time on Southern soil, this was territory totally familiar to Southern commanders. The North was unfamiliar with the terrain in which battles were fought.
The Union blockade of major Southern ports was a method to cut off trade between the Confederacy and foreign countries. The South used torpedoes, fortifications around certain ports and privateers to circumvent Union warships blockading ports. It also had a small war fleet to attack Union ships.
The Union's blockade force had two major divisions. One blockade squadron for the Atlantic Ocean Coastline and another one to cover the Gulf of Mexico. The Union's War Board then altered the blockade set up by sub-dividing each large squadron into two. This created 4 squadrons. They were:A. North Atlantic Blockading SquadronB. South Atlantic Blockading SquadronC. West Gulf Blockading SquadronD. East Gulf Blockading Squadron
blockading southern ports and cutting the confederacy in two by controlling the mississippi.
By blockading the Southern ports and forbidding any cross-border trading.
No the Northern states won the civil war. After years of blockading and total war, the South was left in shreds and could no longer fight.
The Anaconda Plan was Gen.Winfield Scott's strategic plan for the North, not for the South. It consisted of blockading southern seaports and capturing the river ports of the Mississippi River. The South did not have an articulated war policy. It is one of their greatest failings.
By blockading the South by sea and have the army head straight for Richmond.
The Anaconda Plan called for blockading southern ports and capturing the Mississippi Valley to choke off the South from rest of the world, and, with modifications, that is what they did.
Congress of South African Trade Unions was created in 1985.
Federation of Unions of South Africa was created on 1997-04-01.

Europe doesnt buy cotton from south any more..
Blockading the Southern ports, to starve the South of war supplies from abroad. Liberating the Mississippi, to divide the Confederacy into two, isolating all armies to the West of the river.
Blocking the Confederate coast was the first part of the Unions 'Anaconda Plan', which also involved the invasion from the North and the taking/controlling of the Mississippi River. The plan was called the Anaconda Plan because it "strangled" the Southern Economy and Military. The North took the Mississippi to cut the Southwestern States of the Confederacy off from the rest of the Confederate States (Texas and the Oklahoma/New Mexico Territories), and to gain control of the Southerners 2nd most important port, New Orleans. The invasion from the North was to exhaust the Southern Armies (of-course). And Blockading the South was to prevent the trade of cotton (the staple product in the South) and other goods, crippling the Southern economy. Because of the blockade the South had almost no food and their currency was worth next to nothing.
