Media would definitely be a reason that the country had a negative point of view of many events that took place in Vietnam. The reasons for pulling out of Vietnam tie to our troops being put into a dangerous situation for an extended period of time and the number of casualties being so high. There were nearly 17,000 Kia during 1968 alone and the US was involved in the war for 10 years. I have seen information that states Nixon pulled the troops due to the Vietnamese winning the war, but that could be the opinion of the author.
The communist North Vietnam or PAVN and their allies vs. the Republic South Vietnam with America and their allies
The military draft.
I don't think there would be communism in North+South Vietnam anymore...that was the cause of the war.
After boot camp and AIT, they didn't really care anymore (that had been the hard part). Once they landed in Vietnam it did no good to complain about it, it would only cause problems with other GIs. The attitude was, "we're here, lets get it over with."
General Giap believed that the Tet offensive would cause the citizens and the Army of South Vietnam to lose confidence in their government.
The causes of the Declaration of Independence was the increase in british troops in the thirteen colonies in America and a war, the American Revolution, that lasted about 5 years.
Australian troops were sent to Vietnam on Robert Menzies orders (the Australian prime minister of the time). They were sent to Vietnam because Communism was spreading throughout Asia, and Menzies feared it coming to Australia, so he sent our troops in. Although, our troops only started out as advisers to our allies, but sometime later Menzies decided to send in our combat troops.
Because they were too stupid to realize that South Vietnam was a lost cause.
Draft riots.
Some well-known celebrity supporters of the Vietnam War in the US included John Wayne, Charlton Heston, Elvis Presley, and Bob Hope. These individuals publicly voiced their support for the war effort and often visited troops overseas. They believed in the cause and felt it was their patriotic duty to support the US government's involvement in Vietnam.
There are a handful of Marines and liaison troops in support to U.S. Embassy and consulate operations in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as search teams from Hawaii researching crash sites and other possible burial sites of American troops who travel in and out of Vietnam and neighboring countries regularly.
