Befire his conversion to Christianity, Saul was a Pharisee, and Pharisees had to be married. As he was a very zealous Pharisee Saul would have fulfilled the letter of the law to the "n"th degree so he would most definitely have been married then. (She would have been a jewess because priests were not allowed to marry gentiles.) However, when he was converted and changed his name to Paul, he left everything of his old life (and wife) behind: he does not mention her at all in his writings, so it would appear he was not still married and had left him after his conversion (Probably because she did not want anything to do with this peculiar new religion).
