The Himalaya's formed when the sub continent of India broke away from Gondwanalandand from memory approx 55 million years ago.Gondwanaland was comprised of the continents we now know as Antarctica, Australia, South America and Africa. The Indian piece travelled north and collided with Asia ie where India now is. This caused uplift of the collision forming the Himalaya's. It is anticipated that Australia (which is drifting north at a rate of 13cm per year will eventually form part of mainland China. It would be likely by that time that the Himalaya's would be considerably smaller due to erosion and the collision between Australia and China will create a new mountain range.
The alps were caused by folding
Alps Himalayas Appalachians
I am not sure if they were caused by folding
Fold and thrust mountain ranges can be found at convergent plate boundaries, where two tectonic plates collide. Examples of fold and thrust mountain ranges include the Himalayas in Asia and the Rocky Mountains in North America.
Most earthquakes are not caused by folding they are actually caused by faulting a sudden movement of land caused by friction.
because the tectonic plate that their on are folding on top of each other.
Large-scale folding of the earth's crust may be caused by what?
Folding is caused by compressional stress.
yes it is
Mountains
A convergent or constructive continental boundary formed the Himalayas.
The Himalayas were caused by the collision of Asia and India.
