Was the Muhammad who founded Islam a robber and a terrorist?

No he was not. Islam has nothing to do with terrorism. There are terrorists who are muslims, but there are terrorists from all other religions too. Islam, like all religions, preaches peace. People from all religions selectively take quotations from holy books either to convince people of their own religion to do terrorist acts or to try to prove that other religions preach terrorism. None of that is true. All religions preach peace and any believer of any religion that truly follows their religion will not harm anyone. Muhammad, and notable people from other religions were all peaceful people. It is other people with their own agendas that try to twist their words to fit their agenda.

The question asks about two different things. Since it is easier to resolve whether or not Mohammed is a terrorist, that will precede the discussion as to whether or not he is a robber.

Terrorist: While Mohammed can be considered many things, especially by his detractors, he certainly is not a terrorist. A terrorist is determined by having the following definition with six distinct parts: (1) a person who (2) uses violence (3) against civilian populations (4) in order to provoke fear among that civilian population (5) in order to instigate for political change in the country where the civilians were attacked (6) in line with the preferences of the person who used the violence. Since Mohammed used violence, but without any intent of provoking fear or forcing political change, elements (4)-(6) are not applicable.

Robber: The claim that he is a robber is more difficult to overcome. Mohammed ordered numerous acts (27) of what could be called "land piracy" where he would order his commanders to assault and murder merchants coming to and departing from Mecca in order to confiscate their goods. Mohammed ordered this ghazzawat (strikes) in order to procure wealth and supplies for his community in Medina Munawarra, which was not economically self-sufficient. However, while Mohammed ordered these acts of "land piracy" he did not actually steal anything personally.
