∙ 14y agoVietnam was the second "hot" battle of the Cold War. Korea was the first. For some Vietnamese, both North and South, it was a nationalist war. Others probably saw themselves as Cold War pawns, and in retrospect that is exactly what they were.

∙ 12y agoNorth Vietname was Communist, but many peasants in South Vietnam were nationalist with enabled them to sympathise and agree with aims of North Vietnam. Communisn and Nationalism are strongly linked as ideologies
