Desmond was called The Creamer when he sang with Glenn Miller's AAF Bandin Europe. I thought the name came from his creamy Ballad style. George Simon, Miller's biographer, writes this: "He had been dubbed 'the Creamer,' which some naively attributed to the smooth, flowing quality of his voice. Many of the band members, however, realized the sobriquet had not an udder but an other implication, more tactile than lacteal." I'll let you figure out Simon's drift.
