If there is already a wildfire, selectively burning a zone around it could prevent the fire from spreading further in a forest. the burnt trees can also be fertilizer to the other plants around it. However burning a forest is never actually good for a forest, as human induced damage is never good for the environment.

They benefit the area that they burned by clearing out the decay and old dead debris either human trash or dead plants, trees, and weeds in the area. Also with that being said it gets rid of the exotic plants and allows more room for the native plants to grow and produce.

Answer:

Forest fires are part of the natural cycle of a forest. For people the outcome of a fire is seen as bad as it damages or limits the amount of recoverable wood. For the forest ecosystem the fire is useful. Fires:

  • remove dead-fall and diseased trees which are sources of insect infestations
  • open the land for new trees to grow
  • are required for some plants to sprout
  • return nutrients to the soil
  • open the forest to animal movement
  • provide low growth for animals to browse
