This wasn't the case with all personnel deployed to Vietnam. Units rotated in and out of Vietnam. Incoming personnel would be sent in as replacements for soldiers who'd finished their tour before the rest of their unit or had been killed or wounded. Those personnel were sent to Vietnam and assigned to a unit there.

1. How did jet aircraft during the Vietnam War influence todays's air defense systems (today's anti-aircraft missiles/artillery and jet interceptors)? 2. How did the US Navy's role in Vietnam effect today's 21st century navy? 3. How did US armor (tanks and AFV's) effect today's 21st century armor? 4. What made the Viet War so special in regards to the small arms (rifles, pistols, machineguns, etc.) used then, and used today? 5. What was learned in Vietnam, in regards to hi-performance jet aircraft; in regards to aerial combat (dog-fighting) and the fighter/bomber role...supporting troops on the ground? 6. What was learned in Vietnam, in regards to personnel body armor for ground troops? 7. What was learned in Vietnam, in regards to rotor-wing aircraft (helicopters)?

the tension between north and south came to a disagreement-north thought they deserved all of Vietnam and war was about to brake out south Vietnam asked America to help Lyndon b Johnson and Kennedy sent trainer to train the armies of the south soon that was not enough to help the southern Vietnamese people so troops were sent Vietnam. If one searches The Vietnam War and finds many start and end dates the reason for that is very simple. There was never an official start date of the war in Vietnam because war was never officially declared. America became very involved with the war in 1960. you check it out on CNN time line its pretty cool and simple find
