That depends. A female cat, and that goes for all female mammals, will usually give birth in an enclosed area, such as a box or cave. For example, a mother wolf will give birth in a den, usually dug into the ground or on the side of a large boulder. Cats are the same way. Basically all mammals. For a mother cat to have a comfortable kitting, she will need a small box, so she feels protected, but large enough to fit her and at least six kittens (that's how many most mammals, except for humans and monkeys, can have in one litter.)
They like it to be an enclosed and dark area. They don't want their kittens to be out in the open or vulnerable.
A box in a closet is a good thing to provide for your cat.
They can even have kittens in a flat.
The mother will usually find a quiet, warm area where the mother and her kittens will not be disturbed. You can set up a nice box with a blanket or an old towel in it, and place it in an area your cat will feel safe. The mother will not give birth in an area where she feels there is any danger to her kittens. Areas such as under the stairs, in a quiet corner of a room, or even a dark closet, are some areas that cats tend to want to have kittens.
The cat will usually find somewhere isolated and quiet that she believes is safe.
For example, and indoor cat might choose a basket or box she is comfortable in that is out of the way, a closet, or an unused room.
In a place they feel safe and comfortable and aren't disturbed to often. It is usually familiar to the cat and somewhere where they feel safe. Often a wardrobe or a cupboard. They also like cardboard boxes with a blanket inside.
Cats will have their babies wherever they feel most comfortable. they will have them in a drawer on the bed under the bed, in the closet, and so on. where ever a cat feels most comfortable that is where they will have the babies.
The same place humans' babies come out of.
First you have be a female cat. Then you have to have sex with a male cat, or be artificially impregnated. Then you wait a few moths, and then the female cat gives birth.
