I would highly suggest Allison Transynd synthetic fluid, For all on highway models. allisontech
Allison Transynd
what type automatic transmission fluid for Allison at 545 ? I would suggest using Allison Transynd, "synthetic fluid" allisontech
Use TranSynd licensed by Dextron 3 product
Basic fluid would be Dextron,I would recomend TranSynd synthetic though, available at any Allison dealer. Allisontech
Depends on what type of fluid you have in your transmission. If it has Allison's transynd in it, I would typically change the spin on filter once a year, then send an oil sample in to Allison through an authorized Allison transmission dealer. The results of the oil analysis will tell you if the oil needs to be changed, as well as if you have any kind of wear materials from any kind of problems developing inside your transmission.
You didn't say if it was an auto or standard...however If it's a B500 Allison, you must use transynd, 740-746 Allison uses either atf or 30 weight engine oil, Standard transmission...use the 30 weight engine oil hope this helps
transmission down shift after fuild change
i think that it is cytoplasm....
One cup equals about 8 fluid ounces.
Allison recommends Transynd. It's also best to use an Allison spin-on filter. The canister spin-on has a magnet attached to it unless someone disposed of an old filter and overlooked it. Amsoil now comes highly recommended so I suppose it comes down to price and a call to Allison service just to hear what they have to say. Here's a very good link to doing a complete fluid change in your driveway. If you choose to do this, please be very exact or the consequences could be expensive! http://mdt.volvospeed.com/repairs/allison_atf_filter.HTML Good luck!!
Initial fill of an Allison HD4060P should be around 45 quarts (U.S.) Be aware that 2005 and newer models require synthetic fluid "transynd". The specification for this fluid is known as TES 295. If you are changing the fluid & filters via drainplug, the refill amount is around 25 quarts. (add 20 quarts, then look for fluid on the dipstick, adding more as needed). If you doing a filter only change &using synthetic fluid, the amount of fluid required to top off the unit is around 10 quarts. An important item to note- transynd fluid turns yellow in color rather quickly & this does not mean the fluid needs changing- Synthetic fluid change interval is based on mileage and hours.
