power steering fluid or ATF III
use dextron II or power steering fluid, this age of car was not picky
steering fluid reservoirunder hood, passenger side, above serpentine belt.
Probably under the reservoir with a cap on which is written: Power Steering Do not Overfill Use Only Approved Fluid...
not sure of any brand but the fluid will be clear and auto parts dealer will have it(just ask for clear p/s fluid)
There's a cap on the top of the power steering unit, remove it and put it in there, it might even have a little dip stick.

Remove the plug on the bottom of the power steering fluid pump. Drain the power steering fluid out. Replace the plug to the bottom of the power steering pump. Replace the power steering fluid.
I was just told by an auto repair man that my 2002 olds alero's power steering fluid can only be accessed and therefor filled by the dealer because of a special tool needed to open the compartment. Diffrent answer: i just filled my wifes 02 alero with standard steering fluid and it works fine. nothing blew up.
The power steering fluid recommended is Mopar
